German II:

This course is the follow-up class of German I. Using the textbook Berliner Platz 2, the goal of the class is to teach the students more complex grammar of modern German. In the end, students shall be able to use German in most social situations. The main emphasis lies on exercising conversation skills and giving the students an insight into German culture. Certain differences between Taiwanese culture and German culture as well as an introduction to important aspects of the modern German way of life will be pointed out during the course. There will be lots of speaking, listening and writing exercises. Therefore, the students will have lots of opportunities to practice their acquired language skills in class and prepare for further studies in Germany. There will be a short (practice) test after every unit. The grades are calculated as follows: mid-term exam 40 %, final exam 40 %, in-class participation 10 %, short tests 10 %. Lively participation of the students is required. In-class language: German + Chinese. |
