課程概述

Water is an important resource for human survival and development. With the prevailing concept of sustainability, water resources should be expended wisely to ensure their continuous use in the future. In light of this premise, this course aims to introduce quality-based strategies for watershed management. The concept of watershed management considers the water quality variation and intercorrelation between upstream and downstream river sections. The impact of climatic factors on watershed management is also addressed. Additionally, several popular evaluation tools including modeling techniques and life cycle analysis will be discussed.

課程目標
By taking this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to
1. Understand watershed management concepts,
2. Evaluate how human activities will impact watershed processes,
3. Acknowledge the importance of a healthy freshwater ecosystem in a watershed,
4. Assess challenges relating to water quality protection and integrated watershed management,
5. Utilize a variety of concepts/methods to evaluate water-related issues,
6. Discern the threats to surface water quality and management within a watershed.
