This course is intended to offer students a variety of ways of looking at a piece of literature, ranging from traditional approaches through the psychoanalytic, the deconstructive, and into some of the most helpful and rewarding approaches in contemporary criticism, including the feminist approach and that of cultural studies.
It will introduce students to a diverse constellation of writer and broad range of essays, stories, poems, and plays. In addition, the students will be ushered to literary theories, in the hope of showing how different approaches offer different insights and enrich understanding of the individual work.
