課程概述 |
With freshman students of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures as its subject, this semester’s English course purports to equip them technically for them to engage with more sophisticated literary and cultural issues in their later learning. To reach this preparatory goal, this course focuses attentively on reading by providing a series of intense reading drills. The reading material comprises short essays discussing various representative topics of the present world such as crime, technology, socio-cultural issues, and environmentalism. For each piece of work, we will go through tasks focusing on comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking and discussion. In addition, a great number of exercises will be given, and group work will be assigned. Mandarin and English will be used alternately, depending on the subject we work on. |
