課程概述 |
English Composition II is a mandatory course that aims to further develop students' writing skills and critical capability. For the first semester, students will be learning the composing process, including prewriting, brainstorming, drafting, revision and editing and so on.
Students will also learn to be good writers by way of being good, attentive, critical readers. That is to say, learning through careful reading of assigned works and peer review. Students will learn to analyze texts and reflect upon issues such as coherence, organization, style and formality, plagiarism and so on.Students will also be guided to write essays of different rhetoric modes (process, classification, casual analysis, argumentative, and so on).This course will be conducted in both English and Mandarin. |
課程目標 |
The goals of this course are to enhance students' confidence, writing skills and critical capability. By the end of the semester, students will be able to (1)write with a proper range of vocabulary and sound sentence structures, (2)organize ideas and paragraphs properly, (3) revise, edit and proof-read works, (4) write essays of different rhetoric modes and cover topics of general interests and academic purpose.
Students will also learn through peer review and harness their writing skills by reading critically and taking comments positively. |

Regular attendance.
Active participation in discussion.
Peer review.
Please respect deadlines for assignments. Lateness will be counted negatively on final grading. |
