課程概述 |
This college-level English course is designed to help students develop integrated skills in English. During the semester, the course offers different opportunities and interactive workshops to help students enhance their comprehension of written English and their ability to communicate and elaborate their ideas in English. The course covers various topics related to the issues of contemporary society, ranging from news and reports of current events to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. Students are required to approach various issues through different learning resources, including essays, magazine articles, academic writing, short stories, news, news radios, etc. Students are expected to spend approximately two hours a week preparing for class and completing course assignments. |

This course aims to improve students’ English proficiency and equip them with the English skills essential to academic work, careers, and real-life contexts. At the end of this course, students are expected to:
1. Develop methodologies to enhance English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
2. Access a wide range of issues through English.
3. Exchange opinions with peers and offer responses with persuasive arguments.
4. Deliver a short speech clearly and fluently in English. |
課程要求 |
Requirements:
1. Class attendance and active participation.
2. Class activities and exercises.
3. Close teamwork.
Major Assignments:
1. Students need to study one of the selected texts closely and give a 30-minute group presentation.
2. Each student needs to deliver a 5-minute speech.
3. Each student needs to complete 2 major writing assignments and several worksheets. |
