課程概述 |
This course is designed to introduce NTU students to university-level English. We will continue to read and discuss a series of texts featuring short stories and proses written by award-winning American writers of Asian ancestries including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian and Filipino. Students will have a chance to apply the language skills they have learned through ten listening transcriptions, one individual presentation, two midterms and, near the end of this course, through a group presentation in the form of a micro film. Students are expected to attend regularly, to read with compassion and curiosity, and to critically engage in course assignments and class discussions. We will look into issues of memory and identity by examining how Asian American experiences gain meaning in contemporary culture and how the selected texts resonate with aspects of our lives. |
