課程概述 |
This Freshman English module requires students to develop various writing skills and the instructor emphasizes critical thinking as well as creative ideas. Students are especially encouraged to apply their ideas exchanged during class discussion to their essays and other writing tasks required for this module. The training of writing skills is combined with practice of other skills. For example, students will be required to respond in writing after watching a TEDtalk. Students are also required to discuss their final essay in oral presentations. |
課程目標 |
The goal of this course is to introduce some of the main modes of English writing through detailed readings of models by various writers as well as former students, and to give students the opportunity to develop skills through writing papers and other shorter pieces. |
課程要求 |
The first three assignments will be paragraph writing (200 words). Longer homework (600 words) is submitted three times during the second half of the term.
All student essays, unless otherwise announced, will be available for the class to read and discuss as course materials. There are also group projects and other class activities. |
