課程概述 |
This course is organized as a seminar/workshop which invites students to take a leading role in their own English learning. An integration of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills is emphasized as students carry out a variety of in- and out-of class activities/ assignments. Students will develop speaking fluency and confidence through group role play and individual presentation. Students will also read and write in a variety of genres and on a wide range of topics. While a required textbook is assigned, students will have opportunities to research on their own a topic of interest. |
課程目標 |
The course aims to prepare students not only for better English learning outcomes but critical inquiry skills needed in their personal, academic, and professional life. By the end of the course, students will be able to (1) give and explain their opinions on a topic of interest; (2) challenge and ask questions about news that they see in the media or popular culture; (3) synthesize and organize materials into clear speaking and writing; (4) develop effective self-learning strategies; and (5) collaborate with peers and communicate with instructors. |
