課程概述 |
英國文壇於十九世紀中葉興起為兒童寫作的熱潮，
造就了兒童文學的「黃金時期」。除了對抗說教
傳統與清教思想，企圖娛樂兒童、教育兒童之外，
維多利亞時代的兒童文學在其豐富華麗的表象之下
潛藏著社會現象的投射與對社會議題的批判。
因此，兒童文學不一定是純真與完美的具現，
而可能是傷痛的痕跡，或是意識形態與集體
潛意識的戰場或展場。
本學期研讀的作品暫定如下：

課程目標 |
本課程透過維多利亞時代兒童文學作品的研讀，
觀察十九世紀到二十世紀初有關「兒童」與
「童年」觀念的更迭，並探究社會、經濟、
政治變化等如何再現於兒童文學作品當中。
研讀中我們將著重文本與歷史文化脈絡之間
的關係，關注的問題包括：成人與兒童的關係；
兒童文學中的性別與階級問題；兒童文學與
帝國等。
