Course Description: This course aims to train students to become competent readers of English while sharpening their English listening skills. This teacher believes in learning English through extensive and intensive reading, so a heavy, challenging reading load can be expected. In addition to substantial selections from the textbook, teaching material will include class handouts and audio-visual clips from various sources. Students are required to finish their assigned reading before class, turn in their homework assignments on time, and participate in class activities and oral presentations. The course will be conducted mostly in English.

Grading: Midterm exam: 20%
Final exam: 30%
Quizzes: 20%
Continuous Assessment: 30%
