課程概述 |
Freshman English is a required course for all incoming NTU students. This class will use a combined-skills approach (ie. listening & speaking, reading & writing) as well as looking at grammar and vocabulary acquisition. More emphasis will be placed on speaking & listening however. |
課程目標 |
The goal of this class is to build on the students' foundation of English, strengthening the four language skills allowing students to confidently communicate with the wider world so they can get the job done and express themselves to their own satisfaction. It is hoped that students will take control of their own learning and continue to improve their English long after the class is over. |
課程要求 |
Attendance and class participation is 30% of the class grade.
Each class is 3 hours once a week. You need to come to class on time and stay for the whole period to pass the course.
Participation for me means actively participating in all class activities whether they be speaking, listening, reading or writing; pair work, small group, whole class or individual work in your seat. Doing work from other classes or having textbooks from other classes open in my class; sleeping, playing games on your cell phone or speaking Chinese instead of using English is not active participation as far as I am concerned. Students who do those things will fail this course no matter how good their test grades are. If you don’t like this and feel it is unfair, please sign up for another class.
