課程概述

The course introduces ICT-based (Information and Communication Technology) foreign language learning strategies that help students build up their own personal learning framework, a vital element of foreign language learning which allows students to define, manage and self-regulate their learning continuously; thus, equipping them with the core skills of Academic English (i.e., awareness of language learning processes and structures, linguistic knowledge, communication skills, proactive attitude).
 

課程目標
The course employs a blended learning framework (ICT-based and face-to-face format) of foreign language learning experience (constructed through individual and group tasks, e.g. symposium on movie, dialogue & interview, virtual tour) which supports students’ personal learning goals and efforts. It engages students in active viewing, reading, listening and writing of materials about academic and cultural topics, and thus, prepare them for active interaction with others and creative production of works in both oral and written forms.  
課程要求
Students are expected to have a GEPT-intermediate level of language proficiency or its equivalent.

Criteria for Evaluation
(83dc) Listening: OLCP (3 levels) Performance 20%
(83dc) Reading: ORCP (1 level) 20%
(83dc) Speaking: Survey and Report 20%
(83dc) Writing: Essays (3 essays: 1 graded) 20
(83dc) Proactive Participation* 20%

**Positive Learning attitude (Proactivity) is an important contributing factor in successfully learning the objectives of the course. It is measured by three criteria:
(83dc) Punctuality (submitting required tasks at the expected time)
(83dc) Interactivity (presenting and commenting on shared information, inquiring, answering questions, giving feedback)
(83dc) Solidarity/Teamwork (contributing relevant ICT-based learning resources, carefully identified and appropriately described).

IMPT:
Students who submit late homework will automatically receive a failing score. Make-up tests/presentations may ONLY be arranged under unavoidable circumstances.
