課程概述

本課程為歷史系系定大二必修課程(大一有意願之學生也可修習),主要內容在介紹西元1500年之前,世界主要文明區域的發展、接觸與互動。由於歷史系諸多課程已對中國及東亞地區有深入之介紹,本課程將以上古至中古晚期的近東與歐洲地區為主,培養學生對此區域歷史發展的認識,也能掌握近東及西方文明和世界其他區域的交互影響,並給予學生基礎史學訓練。

課程目標
1. 訓練核心能力:本課程透過文獻閱讀、史料分析、摘要寫作、心智圖繪製及課堂討論,培養學生基本的聽、說、讀、寫之學術能力。
2. 掌握變與不變:學生應一方面能認知歷史的延續性,以及地理環境對文明發展的長時段影響;另一方面也能理解特定時代的變化趨勢、創新思維和傳統觀念之間的碰撞,以及特定地理區域如何因信仰或生活方式自成一主體。換言之,即對普遍性與特殊性雙重的掌握。
3. 鼓勵比較與連結:本課程在各單元授課中將引導學生比較及連結不同區域或文明之間的發展,也能反思今日所面對的文化與歷史議題。  
課程要求
1. 本課程指定閱讀涵蓋教科書與史料,取材自:
(1) Robert Tignor et al., Worlds Together, Worlds Apart: From the Beginnings of Humankind to the Present, 5th Edition, Combined Volume (New York: W. W. Norton & Company, 2017,以下簡稱WTWA) ,學生須依上課進度閱讀WTWA指定範圍,並依據閱讀內容繪製手繪心智圖(課堂上進一步說明)。心智圖作業請以全英文完成,並以A4紙張於規定時間內繳交,逾期不受理。若有抄襲,以零分計。WTWA指定閱讀範圍及作業,見下方課程進度藍色字處。
(2) Marvin Perry et al., Sources of the Western Tradition(10th Edition, 2019,以下簡稱SWT)須依課程進度閱讀完指定頁數,並以中文或英文書寫摘要並提問(課堂上進一步說明)。
(3) 其他史料如《聖經》、但丁的《神曲》等,須依課程進度閱讀完指定頁數,並以中文或英文書寫摘要並提問(課堂上進一步 說明)。
2. 課程參與:本課程前兩節以教師授課為主,第三節為討論課,修課學生應積極參與兩者。凡缺席教師授課超過3次或討論課超過3次者,「課程參與」之分數以零分計(課程評量方式請見下方)。另請注意:上課請準時到達教室,超過15分鐘未到者視為遲 到;遲到3次視同缺席1次。
3. 歡迎參與「台灣世界史討論會」於本學期所舉辦之演講(9/22週五16:00-18:00師大歷史系、12/8週五下午15:30-17:30臺大歷史系),鼓勵方式於課堂說明。
