課程概述 |
The purpose of this course is to introduce to students the characteristics of ancient Greek political thought by reading, exploring, and discussing the texts and works in ancient Greek philosophy and literature. The course is divided into eight parts: 1) The political thought in Homer’s epics; 2) Hesiod on Justice; 3) The political and ethical thought in the 6th century BC; 4) The notion justice in Aeschylus; 5) The political and ethical thoughts of early Greek philosophers; 6) Plato’s political thought; 7) Aristotle’s political thought, and 8) Epicurus on justice and politics. |

課程目標 |
1) To introduce students to ancient Greek political thoughts, particularly those proposed and held by ports, playwright, and philosophers.
2) To encourage students to see the relevance of ancient Greek political thoughts to the present-day problems.
3) To help students to develop the skills involved in understanding and evaluating philosophical texts. |
