課程概述

資訊組織是藉由描述資訊物件(information objects)之載體與內容,建立代表原件之替代記錄(surrogate / representation),並予以系統化的組織,建置成檢索工具,以幫助使用者依其資訊需求查詢、檢索、辨識、評估、及查知資料所在。針對資訊物件之載體與內容建立具辨識性的替代記錄及系統性的查詢機制,可說是資訊組織的兩項基本概念。
資訊組織一課程著重於資訊描述及建立檢索點,資訊組織二課程則以資訊物件之內容的分析與呈現為主。主題分析包含兩項基本步驟,一是圖書資料的主題內容的分析確認(subject analysis),一是將確認的內容以適當的方式呈現(subject representation)。
本課程旨在幫助學習者瞭解主題分析的意義及相關概念,對各類型知識組織系統(knowledge organization systems)有基本認識,而教學重點則在國內圖書館較常用的中文圖書分類法、中文主題詞表、杜威十進分類法 (Dewey Decimal Classification, DDC)、美國國會圖書館分類法 (Library of Congress Classification, LCC)、美國國會圖書館標題 (Library of Congress Subject Headings, LCSH) 之瞭解與應用。藉由深入了解圖書館界如何運用分類表與標題表等系統,而能推及類似知識組織系統的應用方式。 

課程目標
具體目標大抵有二:
1. 希望理論與實務並重,讓學習者熟悉上述常用分類表與標題表的使用。
2. 希望藉由熟悉圖書館界常用的分類表與標題表,對KOS工具的基本結構與用法有所了解,進而能觸類旁通,自行依需求掌握其他類型的KOS工具。 
課程要求
(1) 準時出席上課,是同學的基本責任。本課程採不定時抽點,凡點名未到者,每次扣學期總成績二分。
(2) 全學期缺席四次(含)以上者,學期成績將以不及格論。
(3) 上課時請積極參與討論、表達看法,表現優良者酌予加分。
