In this class students will analyze and conceptualize a variety of scripts representing distinct theatrical styles in order to gain an understanding of methods of interpretation and ways in which literary style can affect design. In addition the students will be taught advanced computer methodology for generating detailed and expressive costume renderings. The students will be given an opportunity to apply these methods to create their own interpretations of the theatrical styles discussed in class. The students will demonstrate their understanding of theatrical style through the execution of costume renderings and the construction of selective accessories or costume ornamentation. The students will be graded on the effectiveness of their design ideas and the quality of their execution, as well as their participation in class activities.
