This English course aims to equip graduate students with the skills required to present scholarly work at international venues. Those skills include writing abstracts, drafting proposals, compiling bibliographies, and moderating and speaking at conferences. Beyond those pragmatic concerns, the course will introduce students to various modes of critical and imaginative writing in the western tradition and diverse samples of literary scholarship as it is practiced today. |

Besides developing greater proficiency in language skills, students will explore the rich and multifaceted cultural landscape to which English offers access, and engage the language in some of its most complex and challenging forms of expression. |
