課程概述 |
Emphasis of this course will be on analysis of the major trends of thought in China through extensive reading of the original texts. Outstanding philosophical issues and problematiques in given thinkers will be reflected upon against the intellectual and historical background. For further information regarding the original sources and contemporary studies, students are urged to discuss with the instructor individually. |

課程目標 |
The purpose of this course is to provide students with guidance in the development of Chinese thought from the beginning of Chinese civilization in the first millennium B.C. to China\'s encounter with the West in the nineteenth and twentieth century. |

課程要求 |
1. All students are required to finish the reading assignment of each topic.
2. Every student has to take the mid-term examination and write a paper in lieu of the final examination. The paper should be written in Chinese or English on the basis of students\' reading of the primary sources (A Source Book in Chinese Philosophy, tr. and ed. by Wing-tsit Chan) and should not exceed ten pages including footnotes. The due date of the final paper is the last day of the instruction. |
