課程概述 |
This course, a sequence of 史學英文寫作 I, continues to train students to summarize, report, criticize, and conduct research. During the first-half of the semester, we will rehearse skills in various modes of writing, including but not confined to (1) descriptive (detailed description), (2) analytic (definition, comparison and contrast, review or thematic analysis of a creative work or a historical essay), (3) argumentative (essay questions, causality, and enumeration) and (4) creative (figure of speech, analogy, story writing / anecdotes, etc.). The second-half of the semester places emphasis on the step-by-step process involved in writing a research paper. Just as what we covered in the previous semester, grammar review and vocabulary potency will still be a valuable adjunct to this semester’s training. Although our course aims at the upper-division writing breadth accomplishment, students who do not take 史學英文寫作 I are impartially welcome.
