Course Description

In this course, students will acquire ideas of western ethics by reading recent academic introductions (mostly written in English). And students will try to reflect on them with Zhuangzi’s perspectives. With these achievements, we may receive a deeper or a renewed understanding of Zhuangzi’s philosophy; furthermore, we could build a distinct ethical perspective based on contemporary Ethics and the insights from Zhuangzi. 

Course Objective
 1. To comprehend the concerns and theories of western ethics.
2. To probe ethical ideas in philosophy of Zhuangzi.
3. To reappraise western theories of ethics with perspectives of Zhuangzi.
4. To attain a level of comfort in working comparatively across traditions.
