課程概述

當代的性質理論研究中，有許多的形上學家在建構系統性的形上學時以「殊性」作為世界中最基本的存有物。然而我們是否有好理由支持殊性存在？如果殊性存在，那麼它又是怎樣的一種存有物？而殊性論作為系統性的形上學理論，相較於其它系統性的形上學理論有何優缺點？為了回應以上若干問題，我們不僅要理解殊性的本質以及其在不同形上學議題中的應用，我們甚至得從後設形上學的角度來對其進行理論分析。
In contemporary studies of the metaphysics of properties, many metaphysicians suggest we take “tropes” as the fundamental elements of the world. But what does it mean to be tropes? Do we have any reason to believe in their existence? As a systematic metaphysic, what are the advantages and disadvantages of trope theory, compared to other systematic approaches? To answer these questions, we need to look not only on the essence and applications of tropes but also on their metametaphysical features.

 使學生清楚掌握以「殊性」為基礎元件的存有論，並期望學生在修習本課程後，能對該理論進行正確深入的評價，並與自身的研究做結合。
The aim of this course is to help students familiarize themselves with the ontology of trope theory by reading and discussing important discourses about the theory.
