課程概述 |
In this course we will read Kant’s theory of aesthetics as presented in his third Critique, the Critique of Judgment. We will use the Cambridge Edition. |
|
課程目標 |
The course objective is to arrive at an understanding of Kant’s theory of aesthetics, which is primarily an analysis of our faculty of making judgments of taste. Kant uses the results of this analysis to discuss various issues such as genius, beauty of nature, beauty of art, and the relationship between beauty and morality. |

“Critique of the Power of Judgment”, translated by Paul Guyer and Eric Matthews, CUP 2000. But there are also other useful translations, for instance by Pluhar.

In case someone wishes to consult a more detailed analysis, there is “Kant’s Theory of Taste”, Henry E. Allison, CUP 2001. |
