課程概述

當代考古學越來越注意考古研究與社會之間的互動樣態,積極批判深植於學科的殖民傳統、新自由主義及父權意識形態對考古研究的影響(Exell and Roci 2013,Geller 2009,Horning 2010,Meskell 2020,Steeves 2017,Tomaskova 2011),並運用不同的實踐方式來矯正過往的問題,考古學家開始提出社區考古學及原住民考古學等不同的考古學實作,強調無論是與遺址所在地居民或是遺址相關的原住民社群進行合作研究,從研究問題的開始,研究成果的詮釋,到最後對於考古襲產的管理都是強調與社群一起,文化襲產的利益相關者們(stakeholder)從過去的研究諮詢者角色轉變為合作者,共同形塑研究的方向。也因此,考古學的研究目的及樣態也隨之轉換,從透過物質遺留重建過去生活轉變為與當代人群共同認識土地的過去,強調遺址的多聲詮釋(multivocality)(Hodder 1991、1995、2011),更重視爬梳、建立人群與土地間的連結,進而將考古視為一種行動的學科,可以建立更平等、包容的社會(Checker et al. 2014,Cobb and Crellin 2022,Little and Zimmerman 2010,Plets 2014)。

社區考古學的發展從1990 年代末期開始,其開始源於西方考古學者反思在前殖民地進行考古工作時,無論是在對於資料的詮釋或是對於文化襲產的管理上,與當地社群間延續著殖民時期的不平等關係,使得考古學家對許多在地社群而言與殖民者無異,而考古學研究及遺址則被當地社群視為無價值,與當代生活毫無關係。在此反思之下,考古學家開始展開新的實作方式,考古家透過與在地的合作,共同建構土地的歷史,更成為形塑地方認同的推力之一(參考Abu-Khafajah, 2011,Phillips et al. 2002,Saucedo-Segami 2011)。

本課程為新開設之課程,為過往本人所開設「公共考古學:理論與實踐」課程之延續課程,希望透過與認識社區、訪問社區及向社區學習與丸山遺址周邊社區建立連結,在邀請業師開授數位技術及小型展示設計等相關課程,讓社區與學生可以共同透過數位技術平台,將對於考古遺址場域的相關知識導入數位平台上,成為社區進行遺址教育推廣的工具。然而本學期的授課仍是以理論及相關實證個案進行討論,整堂課程可以讓學生從社區考古學的關懷出發,從閱讀文本中進一步了解社區考古學進行的樣態、可能有的問題及可以嘗試的方向,希望達到學生主動從關懷社群出發,向社區學習,進而思考如何回饋給社群,在此過程中可以提升學生對於遺址的認同感,並透過相關技術的學習提供學生解決可能問題的工具。

本課程進行分為兩個部分,除了相關技術及社區知識的學習外,每週仍持續進行社區考古學相關文獻的研讀,尤其著重國際不同案例的討論。

課程要求
本課程要求同學每週課前能完成文本閱讀,撰寫閱讀心得,並於每週日中午前上傳至NTU Cool上,遲交者將會影響期末成績。
課堂的進行方式以討論為主,同學將輪流負責針對每週的文本進行導讀。
