課程概述

Information Architecture refers to the organization, design, and production of digital content, especially information on the Web. This course emphasizes design principles, user- and task-centered design, usability basics, IA components (e.g., organization, labeling, navigation, and finding), visual design principles, and evaluation methodologies. This course will also review several technical foundations (e.g., HTML and CSS) of the Web that support IA.
The course is comprised of hand-on activities, assigned readings, mid-term examinations, projects, and class activities. Students will be expected to work with various web applications and their peers frequently throughout the semester.  

課程目標
 At the conclusion of this class, the students will be able to:
o articulate information architecture components and the considerations in the context of various web structures, as well as the information design principles.
o develop evaluation skills to explicate the design and organization of digital content in various institutions and platforms, including libraries, archives, online retailers, news websites, etc.
o determine appropriate information architecture strategies for digital content display and management.
