課程概述 |
認知語言學中的譬喻研究近年來受到極大的關注。Lakoff & Johnson
(1980)的經典作品"Metaphors We Live By"中宣稱,透過「概念譬喻」,
我們生存的世界被型塑,也建構了「事實」。「概念譬喻」被認為不僅是語
言的表現,更是人類認識世界的概念方式。近年來,譬喻的研究也延伸至
文字以外的研究,擴及廣告、漫畫、政治漫畫等視覺媒體的表現方式。本
課程的課程設計以「廣告」、「漫畫」、「政治漫畫」等三種涉及視覺的媒介
類型,探討這些視覺媒體中的譬喻特色,以及這些類型中的視覺與文字互
動後所產生的譬喻。因為認知語言學中的譬喻可以廣義推到包含隱喻、
代喻、幽默、嘲諷、誇大說法、矛盾語法等修辭藝術,本課程亦將涵蓋
這些不同的修辭方式於課程討論中。
因為這三種視覺媒體同時涉及圖像與文字,本課程沿用目前這個領域大家
普遍使用的名稱「多媒介/多模態譬喻」(multimodal metaphors)來指稱不同
媒介/模態的譬喻及不同媒介/模態之間的互動下產生的譬喻。本課程大綱以
「多媒介譬喻」作為「多媒介/多模態譬喻」的簡稱。
本課程的授課方式為每週閱讀兩篇論文,由輪到的兩組別分別報告一篇的大
致內容,之後對論文提出看法,包括該論文的優點與缺點等。最後以「實例
探索」提供進一步的省思。「實例探索」中修課學生必須按照該週老師所指
定的論文中所延伸的議題或特別指定的題目尋找可以支持或推翻
指定內容的視覺媒體素材,學生必須將這些資料消化後,以PPT
或其他方式(多媒體、講義等)呈現給上課同學。
修本課同學建議應先修過本課程的先修課程「隱喻、認知、與文化」,如未修過該課,需由授課教師同意。

(9)引發學生對學術研究獨立思考的能力
(10)透過視覺媒體,提升學生對生命的熱情
