課程概述 |
Course description: This course offers an introduction to some of the fundamental principles, methodologies, and techniques of research in music theory/analysis, and in historical musicology. Among the topics covered in music theory are Schenkerian theory, music semiotics, implication-realization model, multimedia musical analysis, and time studies. Among the topics covered in historical musicology are editing, manuscript examination, historiography, and the “new” musicology. |

──介紹音樂學研究中，系統性研究（理論與分析）的主要方法及應用
──培養對系統性的音樂學學術文章之閱讀、理解、批判能力
──培養對音樂研究文獻中所隱含的各項觀念、想法，與預設立場的指認、批判能力
──介紹學術寫作的方式、培養尋找研究題目的能力 |

課程要求 |
平日作業：
針對每週指定之文章或書中章節，寫出其摘要，內容包括：(A)主旨、(B)理由 與立論方式（邏輯脈絡）。其中應書明（1）作者（2）篇名（3）出版資訊─包括期刊名 或書名、出版地、出版社、出版日期等等。（4）各論點的頁碼。
長度約 400 字上下。請盡量以母語文寫出（若母語非中文或英文，可由此二語言擇一）， 專有名詞可直接用原文，無需翻譯（在平日作業中如此，正式文章中則不見得）。
學期報告：針對選定的文章，提出摘要與學術評論，進行 1)口頭 2)書面報告。內容包括：
1. 摘要、立論方式
2. 自己的見解與批評（需舉實例具體說明）
3. 學界相關的評論、看法
4. 自己對後者的回應
5. 引用與參考書目
說明：為幫助同學們成功完成書面報告，請於繳交前，至少給二位同學看過並請其提供意 見，特別是針對內容、架構、論點是否清晰、合理、具說服力等方面。原作者並在 文章最後說明如何回應評論意見。
Historical Musicology Part:
Class meetings will focus on discussions of readings. A short response paper (approximately one page) on each week’s readings must be submitted during the class meeting for that week. In addition, there may be small hands-on assignments (such as the editing of original manuscripts).
Finally, there will be a research project, on a related topic of your choice, which will culminate in a presentation and paper. |
