課程概述 |
Simultaneous interpretation is a special skill. Interpreters listen for the message of the source language while conveying the preceding passage in the target language clearly, concisely, and grammatically. The multi-tasking involved in simultaneous interpretation is not a natural skill. It has to be learned and reinforced through deliberate practice. |

課程目標 |
In this class, students will be introduced to different components (i.e., shadowing, distancing, abstracting, anticipating, chunking, etc.) involved in simultaneous interpretation. The components will be isolated and introduced to students in a step-by-step manner. When multi-tasking becomes effortless and each component has been mastered, the integration of the different components will commence. |

Diligent classroom attendance is crucial since the skills must be acquired through practice and monitored by the instructor. |
