課程概述 |
It covers basic topics in single-variable and multi-variable calculus. It also covers some material on calculus-based probability theory such as discrete and continuous probability distributions, law of large numbers and central limit theorem. For single-variable calculus, it includes function and inverse function, limits, concept of continuity, derivatives, linear approximation, optimization, integral, Taylor expansion, and root finding. For multi-variable calculus, it includes partial derivatives, extremes, Lagrange multiplier, and double integrals. |
課程目標 |
1. To understand and be able to use calculus and probability to describe the dynamics of life.
2. To think in probabilistic terms in dealing with uncertainty in our daily lives.
3. To provide students with the fundamental ideas and tools of calculus that will put them in a good position for understanding more technical work in life sciences.
