課程概述 |
Chapter 1: The definition and representation of real valued functions. Inverse functions and the composition of functions.
Chapter 2: Real numbers. The limits of sequences and functions.
Chapter 3: Tangent line and derivative of functions.
Chapter 4: Implicit differentiation. The differentiation of parametric equations. The geometric meaning of derivative. First order approximation.
Chapter 5: Mean value theorem. Second order and higher order derivatives. Cauchy Theorem. Indeterminate form. L’Hopital rule.
Chapter 6: The graphs of functions and approximate lines. Taylor polynomials.
Chapter 7: Definite integral. The fundamental theorem of calculus.
Chapter 8: The method to calculate indefinite integral.
Chapter 9: Application of definite integral. Approximate integral and general integral.
Chapter 10: Functions of several variables.
Chapter 11: Partial differentiation, tangent planes, gradients and directional derivatives.
Chapter 12: Limit of several variables functions. Lagrange multipliers.
Chapter 13: Multiple integration.
Appendix: Infinite serials, change variable of polar coordinate, some simple differential equation. |
課程目標 |
We make discussion team(3-5 people per term) in class. We encourage discussion and asking problems. You may turn in your exercises. I will check if there is anything wrong. But this is not required and this will not affect your grade.

課程要求 |
評量 There are midterm and final exams. Each of exams determines 50% of score. Besides, there are 3-5 exercise sections each semester. If you attend, do and turn in your exercise, you can get 2 score. You can also get some partial score if you only attend or do. The date of exams is determined by voting. The time for each test is about 3.5 hours. The problems given in the exercise sections are similar to the problems in the exams except changes of the functions. As a matter of fact, we will list description of all problems of the exam several days in advance.
If you can complete some challenging works, like derive all formula in the table of indefinite integral, you are guaranteed to be scored at least 80 in the second semester
