This fast-paced, one-semester course mainly discussing classical waves is expected to be very intensive, and is most suitable for college seniors who have had certain acquaintance with theoretical mechanics, elementary electromagnetism, and introductory quantum physics. The students are also assumed to have taken our applied math courses (two full years) so that linear algebra, Fourier analysis, complex analysis, and ordinary and partial differential equations can be comfortably handled.
