課程概述 |
教入世的學問；教解決實際問題之策略、方法、與工具等；從中帶入化學知識與概念。
Help a student learn to solve (answer) practical (realistic) questions/problems.
教育理念、策略：
本人覺得，目前的高中教育過度保護學生，造成學習與現實脫節。此課程將嘗試，逐漸拆去溫室的隔牆，呈現真實的世界。

課程目標 |
1. [Photochemistry] Estimate the protection of the stratospheric ozone layer. Estimate the UV spectrum of sunlight at earth’s surface.
2. [Chemical Reaction Kinetics] Estimate the global production rate of CH4.
3. [Thermal Dynamics] Estimate the thermal-dynamics-limit efficiencies of an air conditioner and a heat pump.
4. [Quantum Mechanics] Estimate the tunneling current(? probability) of a scanning tunneling microscope.
5. [Quantum Mechanics + Molecular Spectroscopy] Analyze the infrared spectrum of HCl.
6. [Quantum Mechanics + Reaction Dynamics] Greenhouse gas: how it works
7. [Electrochemistry] Zinc plated steel versus copper contacted aluminum
8. [Wave-particle Duality] Under what conditions, you have to use quantum mechanics?
Under what conditions, classical mechanics is also fine?
