Course Description

Learn about Taiwan’s geology and how the island has formed on this four-day excursion to the beautiful Hengchun Peninsula in southern Taiwan. During the course, you will see million-years old rock formations, search for fossilized shells in the jungle, and explore the spectacular landscape of uplifted ancient coral reefs. On our way, we will stop at the earthquake museum in Wufeng, and we will also visit Moon World where you can explore a landscape that looks as if it was from another planet.

This course is designed for non-geology students, which gives a general geological introduction to Hengchun Peninsula, Southern Taiwan. This course includes one indoor class, one rock identification class, a four-day field excursion, and the final exam.

The course will be taught in English and is specially designed for international students, but this year will be open to exchange students, regular students, as well as students from the Department of Geosciences.
***本課程將使用英文授課及英文試卷考試,地質調查導論二另外有其他教授開設中文授課的課程,如果你的中文比英文更流利,建議選修中文課程哦!

To make sure that as many students as possible have the chance to take this course, priority will be given to those who are only staying in Taiwan for a short time (i.e. exchange students).

***未報到視同自願退選。一階選課僅限國際學生,二階選課開放非國際外系學生加簽。
Non-international students can sign up. Attention: If you didn’t show up for the registration process, you will be dropped.
