課程概述

This course is designed to provide you with a broad overview of the many different perspectives from which psychologists try to understand human behavior, including biological, cognitive, developmental, social, personality, and abnormal psychology. Specifically, this course will help you learn:
• A point of view about behavior, a way of thinking about behavior
• A framework for psychological facts, a framework into which you can later add new facts and concepts, from psychology and other fields
• Some facts and many concepts about behavior, experiences, and feelings

Class time will be spent primarily in lectures in order to enable us to cover the wide expanse of material that comprises this course. For each lecture, we will use segments of class time for class discussion or activities, too. Psychology can be applied to many aspects of everyday life. You are encouraged to participate in discussion and activities to get the most out of the class.

This course will be conducted in English. Students are encouraged to use English for in-class discussion and activities. For terminologies or instructions that are more complex or difficult to digest, translated terms will be included in lecture slides and/or handouts to assist students in understanding. If you need further assistance, please let the instructor and/or TA know.

課程目標
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
• Use the terminology of psychology correctly and appropriately
• Explain key concepts in major areas of psychology
• Understand the importance of the scientific method to the study of psychology
• Apply psychological principles and concepts to situations in everyday life
• Challenge some of the myths surrounding psychology
