課程概述 |
This course is an overview of research and theories in contemporary personality and social psychology. Although a complete coverage of social psychology does not seem possible, this course will cover areas that seem most central to the mainstream, or the “cutting edge” of the field, and that appear to be areas of growth and challenge. |

The goals for this course are 1) to understand current research and theories in personality and social psychology, and 2) to develop the ability to critique the scholarship of current reviews and studies in personality and social psychology. |
課程要求 |
This course is a seminar, so preparation and participation in class discussion is essential. That is, your main requirement is to read, think, and discuss. I will provide a brief written orientation to the next week’s readings and/or give some oral background to begin the class discussion. To facilitate discussion, you will turn in a 2-3 pages critical analysis of the readings for each week, with comments and discussion questions to the class leader and me on Sunday before 17:00. The class leader does not need to write the analysis for his/her leading week. For his/her leading week, the class leader is to organize the readings and lead the discussion. I will moderate and help lead the discussion. These commentaries and class discussion will constitute 40% of your course grade. Each commentary will be graded from 0 (if you don’t do it) to 5 points. How you organize and lead the discussion will constitute 10% of your grade. The remaining 50% will be divided by a research proposal (40%) and your presentation of the proposal (10%). |
