課程概述 |
This course provides a solid introduction to the following topics: 1. Introduction to modeling the climate system 2. Recent advancements in atmospheric sub-grid scale parameterizations 3. High-resolution climate modeling and its application 4. Future of the global climate modeling
The students will work on hands-on projects of the following tasks: 1. Analysis of CMIP6 simulations 2. Analysis of DYAMOND simulations 3. Comparison of CMIP6 & DYAMOND simulations on global precipitation statistics |

課程要求 |
4th-year undergrade or above in Atmospheric Sciences major, or upon the approval from the instructor. The students need to have basic capabilities to analyze and/or visualize numerical data using scientific software/programming language, such as FORTRAN, Python, GrADS, IDL, Matlab, or NCL. They also need to have basic understandings to the earth system sciences, atmospheric thermodynamics and radiation, statistics, and climatology. |
