課程概述 |
Introduction to estuarine environments, the processes that shape them, how humans affect them and are affected by them. Focus on linkages between these environments to illustrate coupling between biogeochemical processes and trace metals.
|
課程目標 |
Many elements in seawater exhibit widely varying solution concentrations due to the principles governing chemical reactions in water. Emphasis is on role of estuarine chemistry, physical-chemical processes, their participation in complex, biologically-mediated cycles: uptake in and on biogenic particles, transport via biological debris, regeneration, water mixing, and major influence on the estuarine biogeochemical cycles. In the discussion which follows, specific problems and limitations in the description of trace metal behaviour and speciation involve complexation phenomena in seawater and interpretation will be addressed. This account will be divided into inorganic and organic parts, the greater part of the discussion will be devoted to the very important phenomenon of metal association with marine organic matter, and natural processes. |
