This course aims to deliver enhanced knowledge and recent developments in our understanding of animal evolution. Students enrolled in this course will be familiarized with recently phylogentic results of metazoan animals, principles of developmental evolution, and genome evolution in various models. Each lecture will provide a timely compilation of articles that encompass the most up-to-date information specific to selected topics at different phylogenetic levels. This course also provides a framework to prepare students for careers in related research fields. The course will have a seminar-style format. Students will be assigned to review or research papers, and will be responsible for giving an introductory presentation. The assigned student in each class will lead the group discussion of each paper. |
