This is an intensive course (Week 13-18, Thursday 14:20-17:20, with additional workshop with practitioners). Students are required to take the course “International Development and the UN SDGs - Theory and Policy” (week 1-12) in advance and have distinguish performance. Course instructor will provide permission number for adding this course online (type 2) before week 13.
The course will take three hours per week during week 13-18:
14:20-15:10 – Group discussion in seminar room
15:10-15:30 – 20 minutes break and move to lecture room
15:30-17:20 – Instructor speech in lecture room
17:20-18:30 – 70 minutes dinner break
18:30-20:20 – Workshop with practitioners
20:20-20:50 – General discussion

課程目標 |
● Learn to critically examine development practice: Through paper discussion about development and humanitarian issues, the course provides an opportunity for student understanding the latest practices and challenges of Taiwan’s engagement in developing world.
● Logical thinking and writing: Through weekly assignment of paper introduction and comment (500-600 words), student will get feedback from instructor or TA and improve paper writing technique.
● Problem solving through practicing: Student will organize as several groups to explore, analysis, and evaluated the challenges of Taiwan’s governmental and non-governmental aid agency in the field. The course will invite professional practitioner to share their experiences and evaluate student achievement.

Individual writing |

Writing introduction and comment of weekly reading (500-600 words) and upload to CEIBA before Monday noon (12:00). Upload course reflection to CEIBA before Saturday night (23:59) |

Field work |

Design and implement a series of field work in Taiwan (at least 18hr) for preparing the group presentation and overseas intern. Including but not limited to: interviewing with key persons, indoor workshop practice, outdoor survey practice, or participatory observation with organizations involved in development cooperation in Jordan or Eswatini. |

Review Taiwan’s governmental and non-governmental agencies works in Jordan or Eswatini and propose a practical action plan for enhancing sustainable development in specific aid project or community. 10 minutes presentation with ppt file and a poster. |
