課程概述 |

The course is primarily designed for students applying to graduate schools to gain a foundation for academic writing, including outlining, paraphrasing, summarizing, editing, and peer-reviewing skills. Topics to be covered include features of academic writing, paragraph/essay development, grammar functionality, and essential vocabulary in academic English. Through in-class writing tasks, students will apply their knowledge to writing different study-related genres: CV, Resume, Personal Statement, SOP, and cover letters. The course also aims to equip students with teamwork and oral presentation skills in different academic contexts. |

By the end of the course, students should be able to
1. Evaluate and analyze a variety of texts for academic purposes
2. Demonstrate familiarity with the vocabulary and grammar used in academic writing
3. Construct an effective academic profile or a professional bio
4. Develop teamwork and oral presentation skills needed for their academic careers |
課程要求 |
1. No more than three excused absences are permitted.
2. Active participation in class discussions is required.
3. No make-up exams will be allowed.
4. Late assignments will not be accepted.
5. No plagiarism. A grade of “0” may be earned for plagiarism or other forms of dishonesty. |
