課程概述

The objective of this course is to introduce game theory for advanced undergraduate students.

Prerequisites for this course include Intermediate Microeconomics and Statistics. I will assume
students are already familiar utility maximization under uncertainty and decisions over time.
Students are also expected to have known some basic concepts about game theory, such as
dominant strategy, mixed strategy, Nash equilibrium, and subgame-perfect equilibrium.

For more details, please see the syllabus on http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/~chingihuang/teaching/GameTheory2021/

Because of the covid-19 pandemic, the course will be taught online in the first two weeks
(9/27 and 10/4). The videos will be recorded and uploaded to NTUCOOL a few days before
the scheduled course date. We will hold a live Q&A session at 11:50 am every Monday (the
regular course time) to discuss the teaching material. You are expected to have watched the
videos before each live session.

For students who have not yet registered the course, you can watch an introductory video at YouTube ( https://youtu.be/q9cethk_w10 ) before choosing to add the course.

課程目標
In this course, we will introduced some advanced topics in game theory beyond those covered in Intermediate Microeconomics. We will talk about games with complete information and games with incomplete information. We will also introduce some new solution concepts, such as iterated elimination of dominated strategies, Bayesian Nash equilibrium. The goal of this course is to provide a rigorous framework to analyze both static and dynamic games.

Topics
• Static Games of Complete Information
– Introduction/Review (9/27, online)
– Rationality and Common Knowledge (10/4, online)
– Nash Equilibrium (10/18, 10/25)
– Mixed Strategies (11/1)
• Dynamic Games of Complete Information
– Preliminaries (11/8)
– Credibility and Sequential Rationality (11/22)
• Static Games of Incomplete Information
– Bayesian Games (12/6)
– Auctions and Competitive Bidding (12/13, 12/20, 12/27)
• Dynamic Games of Incomplete Information
– Sequential Rationality with Incomplete Information (12/27)
– Signaling Games (1/3)
