課程概述 |
Group work is a part of social work practice. Through lectures, discussion, observation and practice, students will gain a better understanding as well as experiences
of group theories and practices. Students will engage in small group project to solidify their understanding.
This course is designed to advance students’ understanding and experience of group work practice. Students will engage in small group project to solidify their understanding. |

課程要求 |
Course requirements:
1. Due to the nature of the course, punctuality, attendance, and active participation are expected.
2. Small group project
a. Group proposal: Design and develop a 4-session group (beginning at the week of TBA ). Please refer to course module for the format of the proposal. The group proposal draft is due on TBA . Students take turn to lead (co-lead, observe and support) a group to experience the six-stage group process. The final version of the group proposal is due on 5/15 (5-10 pages, single space).
b. Group reflection: Write ONE reports to describe your small group experiences. The focuses could include (a) your experience as a leader/member/observer, (b) comparison of your patterns (thinking, emotion, & behavior) between out- and inside of the group, (c) new skills that you practice in the group, and (d) your gains and insights. This report (2-3 pages, single space) is due on 5/30
c. Oral presentation: The small group presentation includes 15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes discussion. Focuses of the presentation are suggested to include: (a) using the unique group dynamics in your group to naming your task group and the group you lead, (b) overall goal/procedures of the group, (c) analysis of your task group, (d) challenges and growth of group workers, and (e) insights/suggestions.
d. Self & Peer Evaluation: Assessing group-related skills and techniques, you will evaluate yourself and your teammates based on the criteria determined in the course at the beginning of the semester.

You will be graded on overall framework (10%), logic and flow (6%), application of theory (4%) to your design

(d) challenges and growth of group workers, and

* theory/course content integration (10%)
