課程概述

The subject of this course is to introduce East Asia and its political and economic foundation. For the purpose above, we divide this course into two parts. The first part introduces the developmental state model and conceptualizes state transformation in East Asia. The second part discusses the cases of state transformation in contemporary Asia.
 

課程目標
This course trains students to get acquainted with the principles of political economy. We expect students to develop knowledge about the dynamics of political economy in the course of East Asia's development. 
課程要求
Class Participation: evaluated on an individual basis.
Midterm and final exams: including true or false, multiple choice and/or short description questions.
Group presentations: students are required to form 6 groups and, on a group basis, give an in-class presentation on the paper assigned. In doing so, the assigned group shall do an oral presentation with PPT. The presentation shall be surrounding but not limited to the subject of the paper assigned. The group should also prepare at least one question for the in-class discussion in the presentation.
