課程概述

經濟系研究所必修專題討論,演講資訊請至經濟系網頁查詢:http://www.econ.ntu.edu.tw/zh_tw/Events_Journal/sememea0/semmicro

This is the NTU micro seminar that invites speakers to present their current research. The grades for this course will be assigned according to two criteria: (1) Written Introduction, and (2) Participation and Feedback to Other's Introduction.
Note:
1. Please sign up to write introductions ASAP since it is "first come, first serve." First students who sign up each talk get it; later students have to switch to empty slots.
2. Sign up for more than one talk to "exceed instructor's expectations" (criteria for A+).
3. Feedback to other's introduction will be conducted via online surveys (NTU COOL).

課程目標
[For details, see: http://homepage.ntu.edu.tw/~josephw/microseminar_21S.htm ]

說明
1.
Written Introduction (導讀)
70%
Read one of the seminar papers before the seminar, write a one-page report, and submit it three days prior to the seminar (i.e. Monday). On this one-page report, you should write a short summary (less than 500 words) that briefly answers the following questions: a. What is the question (of the paper)? b. Why should we care about it? c. What is your (or the author's) answer? d. How did you (or the author) get there? In addition, to illustrate "why we should care about it," you should provide one real world example the results of this paper can be applied to on the back page, plus a list of common notation used (theory) or regression variables (empirical study) throughout the paper so people can easily refer to during the talk. Note: Your introduction need not be in the same language as the paper (and doing it in a different language is the best way to avoid plagiarizing).
2.
Participation and Feedback
30%
Students are expected to attend most of the presentations, ask questions or give comments during them. In addition, after reading each week's introduction and attending the seminar, you are to evaluate how helpful the introduction was for understanding the actual talk by giving numerical scores and written feedback.
