Course Description |
This class will introduce students to the problems of moral hazard and asymmetric information. We show how these forces can undermine the efficiency of markets and discuss how contracting can help address these problems. This class focuses on developing common tools, and draws applications from labor economics, industrial organization and public economics. |

Course Objective |
By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the basic toolkits of mechanism design and contract theory to formalize economic concepts and ideas. |

Course Requirement |
Students are expected to understand undergraduate level Microeconomic theory and standard solution techniques for constrained optimization problems. |

Student Workload (Expected weekly study hours before and/or after class) |
In total, five hours per week. Two hours to review the class material and three hours to solve problem sets. |
