課程概述 |
This semester-long course will examine the U.S. economy. During the first couple weeks I will give a statistical overview of the U.S. economy. Then the topics listed below will be discussed. I will use PowerPoint presentations which will be available on line. Much of the material comes from The Economic Report of the President issued by the Council of Economic Advisors. This will be found at: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/eop/download.html The other main source is the Journal of Economic Perspectives (JEP). Articles have also been taken from the Journal of Political Economy (JPE), the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL), the Quarterly Journal of Economics (QJE) and the Journal of Law and Economics (JLE). Most of these articles are available on line through TULIPS, but some of the more recent articles must be copied from the journals in the economics library. Grades will be based on three short two-page papers (in English) and a final essay test (also in English). Each paper should review one of the chapters (or articles) listed below. The chapter (or article) should be summarized and commented upon. The paper must be turned in by the beginning of the class in which the paper’s material is used. I encourage you to e-mail the papers, but hard copies will also be accepted. |
