課程概述 |
This course is designed to overview classic theories of marriage and family therapy (MFT). Students are encouraged to critically evaluate and integrate the theories according to their own personal and professional backgrounds. |
課程目標 |
1. To develop scholarly curiosity about classic theories of marriage and family therapy (MFT)
2. To compare and contrast among classic MFT theories
3. To converse clinical implications of MFT theories in a multidisciplinary context
4. To identify personal implications of classic MFT theories
5. To increase self-knowledge

課程要求 |
1. Punctuality, attendance, and active participation are expected.
2. Leading discussion: Students are required to read assigned readings and take turn to lead in-class discussion.
i. Theory weeks: while reading the chapter, please raise 2 discussion questions in order to fully engage in the in-class discussion.
ii. Video weeks: apply “basic techniques of FT (Ch3a)” as a structure in viewing the videos. It might be useful to view and discuss the video in a three 15’- segment.
3. Oral presentation of a family event: Along with a minimum of a three-generation genogramc, apply the MFT theory to examine a challenging event of your family.
4. Family-of-origin paper: Expand your presentation of the family event to form this paper to show your integration of course content with your insights of your family-of-origin. The paper could include the major events, the interaction patterns, conflicts and “atmosphere” within your family-of-origin over time with the emphasis on their influences on you. This paper is due on June 6.
