課程概述 |
(Location: Social Work Building/Room 104 )
Health behaviors are integral part of human health. Yet, health behaviors are subject to impacts of numerous psychosocial factors. As such, social work is well positioned to provide services to promote health-protective behaviors while decreasing behaviors that further expose clients to greater health risks, resulting in enhanced physical and mental well-being. This course has two modules. The first module will cover the foundations of this class, while the second module will discuss a handful of selected health behaviors in greater details. This course is a seminar, which means all of the class members will complete the required readings, and actively participate in class discussions that contribute to our collective understanding of the course materials. Understanding of cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) will be helpful during class discussions, although not required. |
課程目標 |
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
a. Describe the roles of social work in promoting health
b. Name and explain key theories of health behaviors
c. Conduct theory-driven assessments for health behaviors
d. Select and adapt theory-driven, evidence-based interventions to promote health-protective behaviors
e. Understand selected health behaviors regarding their potential etiologies, correlates, and proven interventions
|
課程要求 |
• All students shall complete the required readings before attending the class.
• Active participation in discussion is necessary for the success of this class.
