課程概述

如果你是典型的富豪400(Fortune 400)成員，則你是持有常春藤盟校的學位，擁有7.5億淨財富，且又在為第1.5次婚姻作努力的男性白種人。你也可能是在製造業或房地產事業上發了財。你的事業達到頂點，與其說是你的腦筋，不如說是繼承的產物，因為你的家庭賦予你一個值數佰萬元的家庭企業。也釦A的事業達到頂峰，是因為你在電腦軟體或小城鎮的廉價商店作開路先鋒。
另一極端是那些富比世雜誌(Forbes Magazine)封面上被遺忘的人們。一個以修復屋頂為業的越戰退伍軍人，由底特律到邁阿密找工作。他睡在城市街道上，下面墊一塊破木板，身上誘@條偷來的被單，每天和其他無家可歸者從暗渠緩慢地走路直到破曉，為了是要到一家雇用臨時工的公司謀生，這類公司對顧客每小時索價八元至十元，但只付給臨時工4.25元的法定最低工資，再從中扣掉一部份錢作為交通和工具等費用。這位修屋頂的臨時工經過31小時的工作後，他得到的薪資給付支票存根上顯示收入為31.28元。
我們如何才能了解這些所得與財富的極端現象？為甚麼有些人年薪一百萬？而有些則每小時淨所得為一元？哪些人是富有的？而他們又如何累積財富？而財富對國家社會經濟帶來何種衝擊？而哪些人是貧窮人？為何窮得無法翻身？以及貧窮對國家帶來甚麼樣的困境？諸如此類的問題，將在本課程加以探討。


 

課程目標
 我們如何才能了解這些所得與財富的極端現象？為甚麼有些人年薪一百萬？而有些則每小時淨所得為一元？哪些人是富有的？而他們又如何累積財富？而財富對國家社會經濟帶來何種衝擊？而哪些人是貧窮人？為何窮得無法翻身？以及貧窮對國家帶來甚麼樣的困境？諸如此類的問題，將在本課程加以探討。
