The purpose of this course is to guide the students understand the methods of Operative Dentistry Practice and also introduce the related applications of dental materials. Students should understand the properties of dental amalgam, base materials, composite resins, casting materials, ceramics and glass ionomer cements. They also need to understand the practice cavity preparations for amalgam restorations, composite restorations and gold inlay preparations. The Cad-Cam system and applications of rubber dam, impression and model preparation are also key points to understand. Students also required to understand the applications of dental chair, high speed hand pieces, low speed hand pieces, burs and the mechanism of dental chair in practice.
